AMERICANS GETTING POOR

March 8, 2009
The Americans are facing a sudden process of impoverishment that has already destroyed about $ 16.5 trillion of wealth available to the families in the last 15 months. The numbers are the IIF (Institute of International Finance), which brings together 380 major banks, and were disclosed in advance to be similar to data published by the Fed (the U.S. central bank) in the coming days.

The information contained in the report of Fernando Canzian, special reporter of Folha in New York, published this Sunday .
The value of U.S. $ 16.5 tri equals more than anything that the U.S. produce in a year and almost 13 GDPs of Brazil. Only September to now, the families were U.S. $ 9.5 trillion poorer.

The reason is because two of the main sources of savings for Americans, their properties and applications in the Stock Exchange, are among those that lost more value in recent months.

Although the prices of properties continue to fall without stopping in the U.S. for almost three years, the rate of decline has decreased in recent months. The greater impact and direct the “destruction of wealth” households is concentrated in the Stock Exchange, which is net saving that can be grabbed at any time.

An old saying is: never invest in the stock market money you can not afford to loose!
Home buyers have not ‘lost 16 trillion dollars.
They never had 16 trillion dollars.
It is and was property at current market price on bank paper.
The only real money lost is when and if property sells “not valued’ but sell for less than real dollars you have / had invested in said property!!!
